From late July the claims service will open for you to be able to claim your 5th SEISS grant if you are eligible.
Personal Claim Dates
Within the next few days, HMRC will be in touch with every person who they believe is eligible to make a claim and you will be provided with a personal claim date. You will be able to make a claim from this date up until the claims service closes on 30 September 2021.
Important: Do not make a claim before your personal claim date otherwise it will not be processed
Preparing Turnover Figures
In most cases, you will need to prepare turnover figures to be able to make a claim. Detailed instructions on how to calculate your turnover, and how to find the information, can be found on the HMRC website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/work-out-your-turnover-so-you-can-claim-the-fifth-seiss-grant
You will need to have to hand in your tax returns for the following years
- 06 April 2019 – 05 April 2020
- 06 April 2018 – 05 April 2019
- 06 April 2017 – 05 April 2018
- 06 April 2016 – 05 April 2017
You will also need your turnover for the year ended 5 April 2021
The HMRC link gives you guidance of everything you need to prepare before you need to make your claim.
If you would like assistance calculating your turnover, this would be done via an email consultation as it is not included in your annual fee. The consultation can be booked and paid for through our website https://zebraaccountants.com/expat-tax-consultations/
HMRC will be releasing a ‘how to’ video on YouTube later this month, so keep an eye out for this !
Claiming the 5th SEISS Grant
This is just a reminder that as with the other grants, you must make the claim yourself. HMRC forbid us from assisting in the claims process. If they believe you have had assistance this could result in delays, or in the worst case scenario, the claim being void.
If you have questions, please contact HMRC support for assistance.
